Objectives
The goal of this program is to familiarize physical therapists with how exercise positively improves a senior’s balance, reaction time, functional ability, and risk for falls in both community and institutional settings. After completing this module, you will be able to —
- Describe how types of exercise, including strength, balance, aerobic, and flexibility training to reduce fall risk.
- Create exercise programs for frail and institutionalized patients.
- Design solutions to keep older adults exercising after formal programs have concluded.
